Alloy B-2 / UNS N10665 Nickel Alloy Cold Rolled Pipe For Chemical Process Industry FPSO

Detail Information

Product Description

Alloy B-2 has outstanding resistance to hydrochloric acid at all concentrations and temperatures. It also has significant resistance to reducing environments like sulfuric, phosphoric, acetic acids and other nonoxidizing media. Alloy B-2 has excellent resistance to pitting corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, and knife line and weld heat-affected zone attack. Alloy B-2 has poor resistance to oxidizing environments, therefore, it should not be used where ferric or cupric salts are present as these salts may cause rapid corrosion failure.

Nickel alloys are formed by combining nickel with other metals (usually titanium, copper, aluminum, iron and chromium). There are approximately 3,000 nickel-based alloys in use, forming products for many industries. Approximately 90% of all new nickel sold each year is used to make alloys. The most popular is stainless steel, which accounts for about two-thirds of new nickel alloys produced.
Many nickel-based alloys offer excellent performance at temperatures above 1000°C and are well suited for extremely harsh environments. These materials offer excellent oxidation resistance at high temperatures while maintaining high quality weldability, machinability and ductility.
Nickel alloys have an average service life of 25 to 35 years, with longer service life depending on the application. This material is more cost effective than other metals due to its extended service life. Nickel alloys are recyclable and have one of the highest recycling rates in the world. Approximately half of the nickel in stainless steel products comes from recycled nickel materials.
